Shitamati Egg Diner Ichiran-tei
Ichirantei is a small diner in downtown Nezu that serves delicious eggs, rice, and karaage (Japanese fried chicken). The owner, a Gohan Meister, and the proprietress, a three-star tamalier (egg sommelier), cheerfully welcome you to their restaurant, which is reminiscent of a home kitchen in the Nezu area during the Showa period.
The eggs are “Sanki no Koi Tamago” (thick yolk), and the rice is “Hitomebore,” a large grain rice produced in Miyagi and Yamagata prefectures. The rice is cooked in a gas rice cooker with high heat to bring out the best flavor of the rice.
The karaage, the restaurant's specialty, has won the gold medal in the karaage bento grand prix for three consecutive years. Despite its strong capabilities, the restaurant's friendly and warm service is one of the reasons why it is loved by local repeat customers.
